Another point for the team that is pro stem-cell research. In findings published by the Journal of the American Medical Association, a study indicated that stem cell therapy was helping patients with Type 1 Diabetes produce their own insulin.

Sure hope someone whose last name rhymes with Smush is reading this. Yet again, we find study upon study supporting stem cell research but it remains highly controversial all the same. This study has not looked at Type 2 Diabetes, and practical applications from the study are at least 5 years away. But if you suffer from Type 1 Diabetes, 5 years probably doesn't seem to be all that far away, does it?

You have to know there is something for everyone on the market when it comes to technology. Printers are no exception. It seems that Sagem's Zen Cube is something that is being attached to multifunctional printers to dispense aromatherapy in the office.

Yes that's right. An aromatherapy printer! Do we have nothing better to do at work but worry about the zen of the atmosphere? There is a reason we call the office "work" and not "the happy zone". But again, that's just me.

All of the time and energy that gets spent in creating these products just boggles me as technology is intended to make our lives better, easier, and more functional. I just don't see bad smells as such an urgent problem. Not to mention the expense! Really, what budgeter is signing off on this one?

A team at the University of Illinois have come up with a polymer that is developed using nanotechnology that can literally fill in its own cracks and tears. And no, they haven't exactly called it robotic plastic yet but that is what it sounds like to me.

The plastic is virtually self-healing and can even repair itself multiple times. Wow, this is going to take on all new meaning with respect to children's toys. But you could also see this working very well for structures that require materials that undergo enormous stress. Researchers are suggesting aircraft carriers will benefit from this. I am thinking that I would not want to fly in an aircraft made of this material. Would you?

MIT researchers have developed a new concept they are calling "WiTricity" which is essentially wireless electricity. The concept is that electricity will be transmitted as a magnetic field with receivers in strategic locations - kind of like cell towers.

I can understand how this will make for easier transfer of electricity in the big wide world, but I am suddenly picturing all kinds of magnetic things floating around in the universe. Is this safe? I am thinking along the lines of health and environment. Do we really want to be exposed to a bunch of magnetic fields everyday?

I am sure there will be air testing on this interesting concept. Let's see how things pan out.

If you are a PC user, Mac is making it very difficult for you to find reasons to stay loyal to that choice. In this article we see talks of HDTV coming to the MacBook or iMac.

Digital TV tuners are being developed along with the current EyeTV software so that you can watch HDTV on your Mac with an antenna and cable connection. You will need at least a dual G5 or Intel Core 2 for this, but most have that anyway.

Pretty sweet I must say. I am not actually in the market for HDTV yet, but I am looking for a computer, and something like this would definitely have me considering a switch.

You had to know this was coming up just on the heels of the Prada Phone. Samsung is in talks with Armani on doing the same to produce an Armani line of cellular phones. But wait. There's more. It's not just phones, but televisions as well. Are they serious?

Armani, Prada, design, etc. All this is supposed to belong in the fashion world. So stay in the fashion world. And fashion is clothing by the way, not technology. I let the Prada thing go because cell phones are a fashionable item. But do we need to stamp our entertainment systems with designer labels now? Personally I don't think so, but the Paris Hiltons of the world are definitely going to get sucked in here.

It seems the rumors are true that Palm is on the market block. To date, Palm has hardly ever been sold and there is no real confusion on this matter.

Not sure what is going to happen here, but given that Palm has had a huge number of issues with their Foleo it is not a huge surprise that no one is snapping it up. They are also announcing some problems with their OS5 product.

It may not be the best time to announce product issues when you are going on the market, but who knows. With all of the other gadgets on the market, Palm may have run its course. It almost feels like the same eerie silence you would hear in a room if someone put up the Walkman company for sale.
