Yahoo and TiVo announced a partnership this morning that will have the two entites collaborate on services. Though their announcement doesn't include any immediate plans to debut new functionalities to Yahoo or TiVo users, aside from Yahoo Weather & Traffic content being made available on TiVo set top boxes by the end of the year, their agreement to develop new services is ongoing.

The Philoneist Says: Whereas Web TV failed because of its broad ambitions, a TiVo and Yahoo matchup makes sense because it seems to be founded on content delivery, not web browsing. Hopefully this partnership will engender a means to stream recorded TV content on a TiVo box through a Yahoo web portal over the internet ala the Slingbox.
