World's Longest Suspension Bridge To Be Built In Italy

Trumping the record-holding 1991 meter Akashi-Kaikyo, constructionlinks of a nearly 4 kilometer (2.5 mile) six lane suspension bridge connecting Italy's mainland and Sicily has been announced for completion as soon as 2012. Currently, the only way to transverse the Messina strait takes two hours via train and ferry.
