Vehicle System Auto-Detects Broken Parts

Within the next few years, automobilelinks researchers hope to implement a new vehicle self-monitoring system that will provide drivers with information regarding the stage a car part is in its life span. The vitality of car parts will be displayed using an interface similar to a gas gauge. The system is supported by measurements of unique vibration signatures that indicate the operability of discrete mechanisms.

The Philoneist Says: Drivers uneducated in auto mechanics (i.e., most) will appreciate and more than likely prefer the assurance that a repair is necessary from a machine over a mechanic with suspected biases for recommending repairs.
