Transparent OLED Display Created

Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute have created a transparent OLED display. Commonly found in MP3 players and mobile phones, OLED's generate lightlinks whenever an electrical current is passes through, removing the need to include (and thus power) a backlight.

All commercially available OLED displays are mostly opaque. This new technology, when refined, can be integrated into laminated glass. Applications would certainly include new windows of all types that could showcase images, typically seen on a computer screen, without blocking natural light from passing through.
