Have a look at the Assystem city car which is being termed the new city smart car. It is supposed to be more suitable for "real life situations" and is said to increase driver assistance such that the driver can manage the environment better than in current models.

The Assystem city car has a central axis. This means that it has 2 cars on its side, and one each on both, the front and rear ends of the vehicle. So the wheels are actually diamond-shaped in terms of placement. It also comes equipped with two engines.

2007 may not be quite ready for this one, but it is certainly worth a wait and watch.
