Starz Launches Expanded Movie Download Service

Filed in archive Content Delivery , Digital Media (Video) by Jonathan G. Cohen on January 03, 2006

Starz Entertainment Group has announced a service called Vongo that will allow subscribers to download as many movies as they want for $9.99 a month from a selection about 300 movies currently featured on the Starz cable channel and 500 older selections. As opposed to StarzTicket, their former $12.95 a month offering on RealNetworks with an archive of 300 movies, Vongo uses DRM and will enable users to watch video on their computers, televisions, and portable media devices. Vongo will be integrated into an upcoming Windows media playerlinks release and Sony Connect.
