Quantum Computing Discovery Permits Light Interaction

Filed in archive Computing by Jonathan G. Cohen on January 04, 2006

HP Labs' Quantum Information Processing Group has made a discovery which permits bits of light in a quantum computing environment to interact with each other. This method also surmounts a previous hurdle where information carrying photons were destroyed upon detection by the act of imprinting themselves on photon light detectors. The emergence of working quantum processors is expected to herald a new age for information technology, replacing binarylinks bit values with an infinite choice of numerical allocations.
