Philips' Entertaible prototype made its debut at CES this week - a 30" touch-screen horizontal LCD intended for tabletop gameplay. Unlike currently available models, it works without the use of special cameras needed to sense object position that require customized room lighting. The Entertaible employs traditional gaming pieces, such as rolling dice and pawns, while implanted sensors detect their values and movement. Other unique features include its ability to detect the location of forty-five fingers at once and produce dynamic playing fields. Philips plans on marketing this device to the burgeoning video gaming market in casinos, restaurants, and bars.
