Nonlethal Weapon Temporarily Blinds Targets

Researchers with the U.S. Air Force have developed a nonlethal weapon that temporarily renders a target blind. Dubbed the PHaSR (Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response) as an homage to the futuristic Star Trek weapon, the handheld ray gun disorients subjects by directing an intense beam of light in their direction. Military lawyers are ensuring that this ephemerally injurious weapon meets all Geneva Convention standards. If found to be in compliance, then PHaSRs could be in the arsenallinks of soldiers and cops within three to five years.
