Using indium antimonide, a semiconductor with conventional applications in radio-frequency amplifiers, microwave hardware, and semiconductor lasers, Intel has constructed a transistor capable of processing information 50 percent faster while requiring 10 percent of the power in chips currently manufactured. This advance is expected to prolong Moore's Law properties until 2015, which is also the same year when commercial products based on this technology are expected to become available.
