Holographic DVD Technology Will Hold 1.6 TB

Bell Labs and Hitachi recently announced a revolutionary holographic DVD media that will initially store 300 GB of data when released to market next year, with a storage capacity of 1.6 TB by the end of the decade. The 300 GB version stores approximately 65 times more data then conventionallinks DVD's, which hold 4.7 GB, and more than 15 times the space of the dueling HD-DVD and Blu-Ray media formats ,which will also be released to market next year. The holographic DVD media is purportedly able to store movies encoded in high-definition resolutions.
