Virgin Galactic, the commercial space-tourism venture launching in 2008, has announced details of a frequent-flyer mile program in conjunction with sister company Virgin Airlines. To promote the service during its initial flights, customers who have collected two million points with Virgin Airlines will be among the first individuals to be considered for space flights. According to Virgin's statistics, thirty people have collected a sufficient number of points to qualify for this program and forty thousand people have signed up to be Virgin Galactic's first passengers. One ticket costs $200,000.
