FDA Approves Cannabis-Based Drug For Testing

GW Pharmaceuticals has received approval from the U.S. Federal Drug Association to conduct late-stage clinical trials for an cannabis-based analgesiclinks. The study will examine the average daily pain-relief facilitated by the drug in terminally-ill cancer patients over a two year period. The researchers behind this investigation espouse its virtues by citing patient surveys indicating 33% of those with advanced stages of cancer do not receive sufficient pain relief, expressing that new treatments are needed.. Current studies have already shown GW already manufactures an inhaler with medication derived from cannabis for multiple sclerosis patients, which is legal and prescribed in Canada.
