Canon Announces Fuel Cells For Mobile Electronics

has announced the development of a fuel cell system that is powered solely by hydrogen (avoiding the hazards of methane) and that commercial products like printers and digital cameras using this system could be available for purchase in the next three years. "Recharging" would take on a new method in fuel-cell consumer electronics, as hydrogen would be replenished directly from refilable cartridges. "Canon has not yet decided on how to sell the product, but would likely refill the hydrogen cartridges at Canon outlets."Read the article.

The Misoneist Says: Who is going to buy a product that requires you to regularly return to Canon outlets for a power refill opposed to the convienience of being able to plug in a lithium-ion battery? Refueling cars this way makes sense, not iPods.
