Biotech Clean Room Advances Stem Cell Research

To facilitate the harvesting of body tissue replacements for wounded soldiers, medical researchers with a grant from the U.S. military have built a cuttinglinks-edge clean-room with a significantly reduced amount of airborne particles present than what is found conventional sterilized facilities. The scientists developing this project aim to collect an archive of stem cell tissues from soldiers prior to combat duty and could grow body tissue unique to each individual should an injury occur, which would more likely be accepted by their immune system than foreign synthetic and authentic transplants. As with much military technology, this technique will likely be disseminated into the public health sector.
