A New Look on For Size
If you have ever that considered plastic surgery would be the answer to all your prayers, then you have to check out this article. It appears that some Canadian researchers have developed a program where you can go online and use your face in conjunction with another face (someone famous) and see what you would end up looking like. The program was initially designed to make the lives of plastic surgeons easier by helping their patients determine what the final outcome would be if they went in for say, Angelina Jolie's nose. You may have seen a program like this on a recent episode of "Grey's Anatomy" where a woman was completely disfigured in the famous ferry accident episode series, and they used this kind of facial reconstruction software to help her choose her new face. She was given three different faces to choose from I believe. And, even though I do not recall julia robertslinks being one of the options, I always felt that's who she ended up looking a lot like.

So this is not just the kind of high-tech magic that has a tendency to appear on prime time television. This product is actually in the works. Currently they are testing it on the Internet to see how it stands high traffic and then it will be available commercially. This one too kind of has me thinking, do we really need another tool that is going to perpetuate the "beauty is better" myth in our society? First this product is being marketed to the public and THEN to the medical field? I would think the public should not have any reason to test this product, perhaps leave it to patients of plastic clinics to test drive the Internet traffic for the producers. But you have to know that people are going to be trying on Paris, Jessica, and Lindsay faster than you can say either of these names and they will ultimately be left with dissatisfaction about their appearance. While I know this was not the intent of the developers of this product, I think technology such as this is only going to perpetuate the notion that we just don't look good enough - yet.
