XM Satellite Radio has partnered with VoiceBox Technologies to implement voice recognition capabilities into future XM receiver hardware. Utilizing a "conversational voice search" interface, the new platform will allow users to issue vocal commands for accessing information about local weather and traffic, stocks, driving directions, and operate basic XM music functions like channel switching and volume. The system will debut at CES next week and be offered to auto manufacturers in mid-2006.
